Safety

Discover some of the avoidance and protection features of Infiniti Safety Shield, our comprehensive approach to safety:

The Infiniti Safety Shield concept is our comprehensive approach to safety. The all-new Infiniti QX offers layered technologies to help provide safety and convenience by monitoring conditions, helping you avoid a collision and helping protect you and your passengers when one occurs.

At Infiniti, innovation remains tradition. Our optional, world's first Blind Spot Intervention™ system [*=Blind Spot] helps alert you to vehicles in the blind spot area, then actively assists you back toward the center of your travel lane if you begin to move over. *Infiniti M model shown in video.

The Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS)[*=AABS] includes dual stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor that adjusts inflation rate depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. If the front passenger seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the air bag. Seat-mounted supplemental side-impact air bags move with the seat to help maintain optimum positioning at all times. Roof-mounted curtain supplemental side-impact air bags help protect front and outboard rear rows during certain side collisions.

Using the system's laser range finder, Forward Collision Warning (FCW)[*=FCW] helps alert the driver of a potential collision by providing a visual and audible warning. If the driver doesn't respond, and a collision cannot be avoided, Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) [*=IBA] automatically engages the brakes to help reduce collision speed and impact, helping to mitigate the consequences of the accident.

In an evasive maneuver, holding to your steered course is paramount. If the vehicle begins to understeer or oversteer, Vehicle Dynamic control(VDC)[*=VDC] applies brake pressure to individual wheels and/or reduces engine output to help keep the vehicle on its steered path. And working in tandem with Traction Control System (TCS) senses wheel spin and automatically reduces engine output, and/or brakes the slipping wheel and helps redirect power to the wheel or wheels with better traction.
